Publishing ethics
To ensure a high quality of academic publications,each member of the Editorial Board, publishers, authors, reviewers and institutionsinvolved in the publishing process shall adhere to the ethical norms established by international academic community and take any reasonable steps to prevent their violations.
The Editorial Board of Eurasian Yearbook commits to the internationally accepted principles of publication ethics expressed in the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and takes into account the valuable experience of reputable international journals and publishers.
Main Principles
A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IWL RAS) as a Founder of the journal Eurasian Yearbook assumes obligations to control all stages of the editorial and publishing process, is responsible for the publication of original works and promotes the adherence to ethical standards on behalf of the editors, the Editorial Board, the reviewers, and the authors.
The Editorial Board of the journal Eurasian Yearbook in implementing its activities relies on the Law “On Mass Media” of the Russian Federation of 27 December 1991 № 2124-1, the Charter of A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature, Russian Academy of Sciences (IWL RAS), the Charter of the Editorial Board of the journal Eurasian Yearbook, the aforementioned publishing ethics of the journal Eurasian Yearbook accepted in accordance with recommendations of the Committee of Publication Ethics, COPE, and approved by the decision of the Editorial Board.
Ethical Standards for the Editorial Board
  • Members of the Editorial Board, international Editorial Board, and the Editorial Department have the right for the priority publication; these articles are reviewed and accepted for publication on a common basis.
  • The members of the Editorial Board and Editorial Department are required to maintain neutrality and objectivity in relation to all the members of the editorial and publishing process.
  • The Editor-in-chief coordinates the work of the Editorial Board, makes decisions on the key issues, signs the current issue and gives permission for online publication. The Editor-in-chief fully ensures compliance with all the ethical standards outlined in this document.
  • The Editorial Board shall consider claims of unethical behavior of the authors of submitted manuscripts or already published articles and take reasonable steps in respect of such claims. If the arguments of the claims are confirmed, the Editorial Board has the right to reject the submitted manuscript and to cease further cooperation with the author. In cases of reasonable complaints concerning the already published articles, the Editorial Board shall publish an appropriate rebuttal and take other necessary measures
  • The Editorial Board aims to achieve high quality of publications and, if necessary, is obliged to publish corrections and explanations.
  • The Editorial Board ensures that the rejected materials shall not be used in another study by the members of the Editorial Board without the author’s written agreement.
  • The Editorial Board complying with the double “blind” peer review and confidentiality, shall not disclose any information about the submitted manuscript.
  • The Editorial Board evaluates the submitted manuscripts regardless of sex, nationality, country of origin, citizenship, occupation, place of work, and place of residence of the author as well as of his or her political, philosophical, religious or other views.
  • When making the decision to publish the manuscript, the Editorial Board is guided by the publishing ethics of the journal and shall not accept any essay with signs of libel, slander, plagiarism, and/or copyright violation. The final decision about the essay’s acceptance or rejection shall be made by the journal’s Editor-in-chief.
  • The Editorial Board makes a decision which of the submitted essays should be published based on the results of examination of the essay’s compliance with the journal’s requirements, the results of the peer review, and the discussion at the Editorial Board’s meeting.
The Editorial Board of Eurasian Yearbook commits to the following internationally
accepted ethical principles:
Ethical standards for the authors of publications
  • In case of serious copyright violation and violation of authorship criteria, the submitted manuscript will be rejected and all further collaboration with the author may terminate.
  • All the sources of financial support (scholarships, state programs, projects, etc.) should be disclosed and indicated in the essay in obligatory order.
  • Authors must meet the journal’s requirements when submitting the essay.
  • Authors undertake to correct the manuscript’s defects pointed out by the Editorial Board or the Editorial Department.
  • In case the author discovers substantial errors or inaccuracies in the essay in the process of its peer review or after its publication, he or she should immediately notify the Editorial Board on the subject.
  • Manipulation of citation in any form (e.g. inappropriate or abundant citations from the work of the supervisor, boss, and colleagues) including self-citation is not allowed.
  • The author ensures that the manuscript presented to the Editorial Board is unpublished (including publication on open access Internet websites), and not submitted to any other journal.
  • Authors are responsible for all the factual material they provide in the submitted manuscript.
  • The author presents the manuscript with the original results of his or her research to the Journal to review and publish it. If the author of the essay used other works or includes excerpts from others works (citations) in the essay, such use must be properly executed by specifying the original source in the references to the source cited. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable behavior.
  • Submitting materials to the journal Eurasian Yearbook authors confirm their authorship by the fact of submission. In case of co-authors, one of them is entitled to submit the essay; all co-authors should be mentioned in full and with all necessary reliable information that is applicable.
The Editorial Board of the journal Eurasian Yearbook implies that every author submitting the manuscript to the journal, agrees with the following ethical standards:
Ethical standards for reviewers
  • The review is strictly confidential. The name of the reviewer, his or her place of work and job title shall not be disclosed.
  • The reviewer who has not, in his or her opinion, enough qualification for evaluating the manuscript or cannot be objective, for example in case of conflicts of interests with the author or institution, should report this to the Editor-in-chief and ask him to exclude him or her from peer reviewing this manuscript.
  • The reviewer should point at substantial similarity or overlap between the peer reviewed manuscript and any other work as well as at the absence of references to premises, conclusions or arguments previously published in other works of this or other authors.
  • The reviewer must not use the materials in an unpublished manuscript for his or her own personal scopes.
  • The reviewer should peer review the manuscript objectively, providing with substantial argumentation for his or her view, make objective and relevant comments and suggestions aimed at improving the level of the manuscript. Personal criticism is not valid.
  • Supervisor (consultant) of the manuscript’s author shall not peer review the manuscript.
  • Manuscript submitted for review should be treated as a confidential document not to be transmitted for reading or discussion to third parties who are not entitled to read or discuss it by the Editorial Board of the journal Eurasian Yearbook.
The Editorial Board of the journal Eurasian Yearbook implies that every reviewer collaborating with the journal on a voluntary basis, takes on responsibilities to adhere to the following ethical standards:
  • the visual style of the article does not meet the requirements of the journal;
  • the author refuses to follow the editorial board's recommendations for correcting the visual style of the article;
  • there is no requested conclusion of the ethics committee on the research, the results of which are contained in the article;
  • the article contains plagiarism or false information;
  • the results of the study have already been published in another journal.
  • the readers;
  • the authors of the articles;
  • the objects of study;
  • the organizations sponsoring research and publications;
  • the reviewers.
Academic Publication Ethics
  • The editorial office has not adopted an open review system, the editors ensure the anonymity of the reviewers and authors.
  • The editorial board decides whether to accept or reject the article relying on the conclusion of the reviewers.
  • The editorial board ensures the objectivity and impartiality of the reviewers' work by promptly identifying cases of violations and taking measures to eliminate them.
  • The editorial board provides the reviewers with guidelines for making conclusions on publications and a list of questions to be answered by the reviewer during the review process.
Editorial Responsibility to the Reviewers
  • The information on the rules for issuing reviewers' opinions is prescribed in the review procedure published on the journal's website in the relevant section.
  • The authors are required to provide information about commercial organizations that supported the research or publication, and about any other conflicts of interest that may affect the content of the manuscript.
  • The authors should understand that the article may be rejected if the following facts are found:
  • Submitting an article for publication, the authors confirm that its visual style corresponds to the requirements of the journal.
3. Authors' Rights and Responsibilities
  • The authors must comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
  • the editorial board has the right to request from the authors the opinion of the ethics committee on the conduct of the published research.
Editorial Responsibility to the Objects of Study
  • The editorial board notifies the authors of the reasons for rejecting their articles and makes recommendations for corrections to be made.
  • The articles are accepted only if there are sufficient facts in favor of their acceptance for publication, and are rejected only if there are sufficient facts in favor of their rejection.
  • The editorial board has the right to withdraw an already published article in case of disclosure of the facts that were not known during the review.
  • The editorial board ensures that copyright is respected when reviewing an application for publication.
  • The editorial board's conclusion is drawn up in writing and can be shown to the author.
  • The editorial board has the right to accept or reject articles for publication, based on the reviewers' opinion on the relevance, originality, reliability of the information contained in the article, and its compliance with the journal's subject matter as well as the principles of editorial ethics accepted in the journal.
Editorial Responsibility to the Authors
  • The review is conducted according to the procedure adopted by the editorial board.
  • If errors are found, the editorial board takes measures to correct or delete them.
  • If necessary, the editorial staff publishes clarifications and apologies to the readers.
  • The editorial board informs the readers about the involvement of commercial organizations and their role in conducting research or preparing publications, and about any other conflicts of interest that may affect the results of the research.
  • The editorial board guarantees that the information published in the journal is reliable and unbiased.
Editorial Responsibility to the Readers
  • The editorial board provides the readers with the information about the authors of the materials published in the journal, and about the institutions where the research was conducted.
